VAM is the principal unit that supports and promotes the use of mapping, spatial analysis, and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. As part of this spatial data exchange, VAM is adopting an enterprise approach to managing geographic information that is referred to as the VAM Spatial Information Environment (VAM SIE).
VAM SIE is a VAM-led initiative designed to support easy but reliable spatial data exchange between WFP operations as well as other partners. This is possible through the use of modern enterprise-architecture for geographic information management. The architecture would connect all the SIE community and their spatial information through international standard protocols. This information sharing between humanitarian managers and decision-makers will help improve timely intervention during humanitarian crisis.
